5-Unsubstituted 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones were synthesized efficiently by a one-pot three-component Biginelli-type reaction of aromatic aldehydes, acetophenone derivatives and urea in the presence of KHSO4 under solvent-free conditions. The optimal reaction conditions were determined. The structures of all products were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis. A possible catalytic mechanism was proposed. |
