Food contaminated with foodborne pathogenic bacteria or their produced toxins can pose a serious threat to human health and cause huge economic losses. In recent years, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), as a new type of porous crystalline material, have attracted much attention because of their large surface area, high porosity, and various functions. Combining MOFs with biosensors for the detection of foodborne pathogenic bacteria or toxins has attracted the interest of researchers. Based on this, this paper presents the advantages of MOFs for biosensors, outlines the application of MOFs in electrochemical and optical biosensors, reviews the progress of research on MOFs-based biosensors in pathogenic bacteria or toxins, and discusses the challenges and prospects of MOFs-based biosensors in foodborne pathogenic bacteria or toxins. |
