Argentine biochemist Luis Federico Leloir won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1970 for his discovery of sugar nucleotides and their role in the biosynthesis of carbohydrates. Leloir not only devoted his life to scientific research, but also actively promoted universities and medical education in Argentina, establishing the Campomar Foundation which was dedicated to scientific research. This article reviews Leloir"s research achievements, relevant research background and his research process, analyzes the factors that enabled him to achieve success. The important role of famous teachers in guiding the researchers, the positive significance of adjusting all kinds of emotions in the research process, and the importance of daring cross-border exploration for researchers were discussed. |
