      Ji Yufeng (1899-1982), an outstanding organic chemist in China, was elected as a member of the Chemistry Department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1955. He specialized in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and natural products, with a particular focus on the field of pyrimidine compounds. This article reviews Ji Yufeng's academic development process and scientific research path, summarizes his remarkable achievements in the field of chemistry and his significant contributions to the development of national chemistry, and showcases his perseverance in academic studies, courage to explore, continuous consolidation of academic foundation and profound patriotic sentiments.
